Job Description
Responsibilities:
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Take responsibility (either directly or via team) of parent entity and subsidiaries’ audit readiness, cash management, accounting, budgeting, tax filings, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy
- Ensure appropriate transfer pricing between entities
- Manage all aspects of the finance function of relationships with strategic partners including budgeting, invoicing, reimbursements, cash management
- Running day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
- Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows including controls and approval processes for day to day functions (A/P, A/R etc.)
- Comply with national, local and international financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action
- Work with senior management to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
- Research commercial and revenue opportunities along with other management
- Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments
- Prepare the organization for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) including audits and be familiar with applicable SOX and SEC regulations
- Work with external auditors, tax accountants, and technical accountants
- Manage and work well with financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
- Extensive finance experience within biotech/pharma
- Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant) is preferred
- S1 Experience
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- Experience with financial reporting tools, bank cash management systems, etc.
- Executive experience with SaaS business models including NetSuite and their associated revenue recognition
