Job Description
Our client's pre-clinical vector design group employs high-throughput screening in disease-relevant models and machine learning to engineer new AAV-based gene therapies for diseases of the muscle and central nervous system. We are searching for a curious individual who is comfortable multitasking and working as part of a dynamic and highly collaborative team. Independent scientists with a strong command of molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or neuroscience-based in vivo and ex-vivo techniques are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in designing and executing experimental strategies, managing timelines, thinking creatively to leverage cutting-edge technologies, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve milestones.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in designing and executing experimental strategies, managing timelines, thinking creatively to leverage cutting-edge technologies, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve milestones.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate novel technologies to engineer promoters and other cis-regulatory elements
- Design, develop, and optimize assays essential for and monitoring therapeutic efficacy in neurological and neuromuscular gene therapy programs
- Perform various biological techniques including fluorescence microscopy, nucleic acid isolation, Western blotting, PCR, and molecular cloning.
- Assist and/or lead in vivo experiments including various routes of administration, tissue dissection, and blood collections.
- Process tissue samples for subsequent molecular or histological analysis including perfusion, dissection and slicing, immunohistochemistry, imaging acquisition, and data analysis.
- Execute NGS-based high-throughput screens.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve deadlines and milestones.
- Record experimental details in an electronic lab notebook and communicate progress and findings to colleagues within and across groups.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- PhD preferred, Master’s considered in Neuroscience, Biology or a related field.
- Expert proficiency with at least 3 of the following: DNA/RNA extraction for NGS applications, cell-based assays, ELISA, western blot, qPCR, ddPCR, flow cytometry.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in streamlining and optimizing protocols.
- Proficiency in rodent animal handling and stereotaxic surgery is a bonus.
- Experience with gene therapy or AAV biology is a bonus.
