Research Associate
Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to support a newly established San Francisco lab focused on automated scientific workflows and platform operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a dynamic environment, utilizing state-of-the-art automation tools and instrumentation. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in scientific laboratory techniques, a passion for automation, and a commitment to precision and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the operation and maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment and automation systems.
- Develop and execute protocols/scripts within automation software to streamline laboratory processes.
- Manage multiple workflows simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to lab instrumentation and automation platforms.
- Perform Quality Control (QC) and calibration of equipment to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Conduct HTQC using LC-MS to verify compound quality attributes such as mass and purity.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization through routine housekeeping activities.
- Complete training on new tasks and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, maintain accurate training records, and document laboratory activities.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams within a matrixed organizational structure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in industry settings; strong academic laboratory exposure is also acceptable.
- Comfortable working fully onsite in a laboratory setting, using PPE daily.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Experience operating liquid handling automation systems such as Hamilton VANTAGE, Agilent Bravo, Beckman Echo.
- Ability to write and execute protocols within laboratory automation software like Hamilton VENUS, Agilent VWorks, Echo Liquid Handler, or Titian Mosaic.
- Familiarity with Waters LC-MS equipment for quality control applications.
