Scientist
Job Description
The scientist will be a member of a team providing support for the early-stage pipeline of small molecule (SM) and protein therapeutics. Primary responsibilities will include characterizing protein – SM interactions and protein – protein interactions using SPR and BLI. This will include (but is not limited to) assay development, hit characterization and ranking.
The successful candidate has knowledge and experience in kinetic and affinity characterization binding assays using SPR instruments such as those from Cytiva/Biacore and/or BLI instrument such as those from Sartorius and GatorBio. Additional experience preferred with other biophysical techniques such as nanoDSF and TRIC/spectral shift as well as liquid handling systems such as Bravo platform or ECHO acoustic dispenser.
The candidate will independently devise and implement creative scientific research through conducting laboratory experiments, planning detailed procedures for defined projects including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources; reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data and results; providing regular updates, documentation, and/or communication on project results; collaborating with other scientists and keeping current with field of expertise, including literature and technology development.
Additional responsibilities may include advising supervisors and colleagues in areas of expertise; participating in national and international scientific meetings; providing scientific results that support the generation of publications, patents, or regulatory submissions and mentoring research associates and laboratory assistants.

Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree OR Masters degree and 2 years of experience OR Bachelors degree and 4 years of experience
- A focus on kinetics and binding affinity characterization with experience using Carterra Biacore SPR and/or Sartorius BLI instruments.
- Proven track record of academic accomplishments (i.e., peer-reviewed publications and/or patents)
- Demonstration of good lab practices, with particular attention to safety
- Clear understanding of binding experiments as well as a general knowledge of related methods and data fitting computer applications.
- Attendance to one of David Myszka’s label free workshops.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
