Job Description
The Business System Analyst is an individual contributor to the development, maintenance and enhancement of business applications, providing specialized technical or business knowledge to system projects. The position has the responsibility for the management of applications and data residing in the application.
The Business Systems Analyst maintains the application’s data and monitors performance and accessibility. The position will be instrumental in the development, identification and implementation of system modifications that will improve productivity within the system(s).
The IT Business Analyst will partner with the research team in our client's Lawrence, KS facility. The role will support scientific technology solutions and processes across the research organization acting as a bridge between science and technology.
The role will take a proactive approach in optimizing process and optimizing scientific research software tools and capabilities solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Partnering with the research team in the Lawrence, Kansas facility.
- Supporting scientific technology solutions and processes throughout the discovery research phases (discovery through last stage research).
- Understanding and improving scientific data management.
- Translating scientific needs from chemistry, biology, and genomics disciplines into technical requirements for IT solutions.
- Analyzing existing processes and systems to identify areas for improvement.
- Defining and implementing new systems or enhancements.
- Working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure successful project delivery.
- Potentially involved in testing, documentation, and user training.
- Partner with research team to align scientific research needs with the appropriate technological solutions including implementing new software, optimizing existing systems, or improving data management practices.
- Provide operational support and oversight of technology vendors for implementations, enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and test activities.
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience or Master's degree and 2 years of experience in Information Systems or related field are required
- Minimum of 5+ years direct experience supporting research technology solutions for in pharmaceutical/biotech environment
- Technology vendor management
- Experienced with GxP guidelines, Computer Software Validation (CSV), and IT SDLC methodologies
- Understanding of software tools and capabilities used in scientific research to support the research business processes.
- Understanding of discovery and scientific data management including understand of process and data involved with scientific discovery.
- Bridge the gap between scientific research and technology including understanding of the methods and principles used in these fields.
- Understanding of scientific business needs and optimize technology solutions to align with overall business strategies; analyze and evaluate solutions and the scientific business needs. Provide business technology process analysis; documenting, supporting and optimizing processes including scientific data collection and management, search, visualization and analysis.
- Experience defining and maintaining data transfer and/or data integration mechanisms in a hosted systems architecture
