Job Description
Our client seeking a Director or Sr. Director of Clinical Development who is smart, driven, and clinically sharp — someone with an MD, who understands how to treat a patient, not just how to write a protocol.
This is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves role that goes beyond PowerPoints and oversight. You’ll work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and play a central role in developing and executing clinical programs in rare disease. You'll collaborate with global KOLs, participate in trial design, and serve as a key clinical voice across the company's pipeline.
This role starts as a 3-month contract, with a path to full-time employment (FTE) based on performance and alignment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Drive clinical development strategy in partnership with the CMO and cross-functional teams.
- Lead the design, execution, and oversight of clinical trials (Phases I–III), particularly in rare diseases.
- Interpret and review clinical data, including lab values and patient-level data.
- Support medical monitoring, patient safety reviews, and issue resolution across study sites.
- Serve as a medical expert and company representative in interactions with investigators, CROs, KOLs, and regulatory bodies.
- Travel globally up to 50% with Medical Science Liaisons to support clinical execution and KOL engagement.
- Provide strategic clinical input for regulatory submissions and scientific publications.
- MD from a U.S.-based medical school
- Completion of U.S. residency training
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in Clinical Development, preferably in rare or genetic diseases.
- Demonstrated clinical judgment — you know how to assess and manage a patient, not just interpret data.
- Experience interpreting lab values and integrating them into clinical decisions.
- Able to work independently, take ownership, and act with urgency in a high-growth environment.
- Willing to commit to a full-time schedule (40+ hours/week), including occasional overtime.
- Experience in small biotech or fast-paced environments
- Exposure to early-stage clinical trials (Phase I/II)
- Familiarity with the rare disease KOL and investigator landscape
- Ability to build relationships with investigators and drive external engagement
