The Associate Director, Commercial Procurement will be responsible for managing an annual spend of approximately $200M in categories including, but not limited to commercial services such as marketing, and creative agency, media planning and placement, payer and market access, sales services, market research, competitive intelligence, data licenses and analytics, commercial operations, new market commercialization services. The role will be responsible for delivering the optimum balance of value delivery (cost, performance, quality, risk) from the supply base or new additions to our supply base in these categories.

In this role, you will be responsible for category management, sourcing, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement for external commercial services spend. The stakeholder is the Commercial Group.

This is a global role, the successful candidate will work on first time sourcing strategies in countries and markets throughout the world, with direct access to functional colleagues, General Managers and Senior Leaders. You will interface with all levels of the Commercial Group to develop new strategies including for Marketing, Sales, and Commercial Operations services. The role is a combination of strategic sourcing and tactical negotiation of agreements. The ideal candidate is ready to do all aspects of Procurement’ s role, strategic or tactical, to enable our client to deliver vaccines throughout the world.

Responsibilities:
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and cultivate strategic stakeholder relationships to find the optimum balance between meeting company needs and delivering total value.
  • Category Management: Develop initial category plans and/ or update existing plans with stakeholders including detailed analysis of past and future spending, existing relationships, and external trends. Develop and manage multi-year category roadmaps and pipelines of sourcing initiative projects.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Implement strategic sourcing initiatives utilizing a standard framework and departmental tools. This includes:
  • Partnering with stakeholders to understand requirements and build robust scopes of work.
  • Developing sourcing strategies for individual initiatives.
  • Implementing RFx activities utilizing advanced tools and techniques.
  • Preparing and implementing advanced negotiation strategies.
  • Perform due diligence to ensure financial health and compliance integrity of the supply chain
  • Partnering with stakeholders, Finance, Legal and other cross functional teams such as Privacy, IT, Risk, and Insurance, etc. to negotiate and finalize agreements, including Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, Order Forms, and data licenses.
  • Supplier Management: Leverage a standard framework to classify suppliers and implement SRM programs and continue support of existing SRM efforts such as business reviews with key suppliers.
  • Risk Management: Evaluating and monitoring the risk profile of the supply base, identify mitigation targets, and implement risk improvement initiatives.
  • Savings Delivery: Develop a portfolio of sourcing initiatives and deliver cost reductions against challenging current and multi-year saving targets.
Requirements / Qualifications (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree required. BA/BS in a technical discipline desired.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
  • Professional procurement certification (CPSM, MCIPS, Etc.) desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years of experience in a large or medium-sized professional procurement organization with at least 2 years specifically in the biopharmaceutical industry. Global category responsibility experience is required.
  • Proficient-level skills in the following key competencies/skills: communications, project management, relationship management, influencing, contract negotiation, financial acumen, analytical, presentation, aptitude for technology, results-focus, professionalism, and success in a matrixed environment.
  • 2+ years of category management experience in the services of Commercial Procurement, including creative agency, media placement and Commercial Operations services (CSO, Call Center services)
  • Agility to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to manage projects in multiple time zones, including US, Asia, and Europe.
  • A proven track record of savings delivery.
  • Ability to work in a highly metric-driven environment and deliver against challenging performance targets.
  • Ability to lead through influence, recommend sourcing strategies, and deliver business results.
  • Strong collaboration and communications skills required to address and resolve issues in a matrixed environment.
