Associate Data Scientist (Part-Time)
Job Description
Onsite, Part-time: ~20 hrs/week (2-3 days/week)
Contract Term: 3-6 month initial contract, with possible extension
The Steely Group is working to help a Chemistry team with a new contract hire to their team in Boston, MA. We're building out the team's informatics function and looking for you, a Data Scientist (Associate Scientist through Senior Scientist level) to join on a contract basis, working closely alongside the client's informatics team member to support and expand their scientific data infrastructure. You'll be able to adapt ELN Dotmatics systems and database/data analysis tools to end-users requests.
What you'll do:
- Maintain and customize company's Dotmatics ELN (highly configurable, you'll be shaping it to R&D team's evolving needs)
- Partner with biologists to set up and troubleshoot Dotmatics protocols
- Optimize Oracle database performance and manage data upload/processing
- Build data analysis tools and applications for chemistry and biology teams
- Take on new customization projects fed from the Chemistry and Biology end-users
Requirements:
- Dotmatics experience in adapting internal user workflows to cutomizations.
- SQL (Oracle) database familiarity
- R and/or Python programming
- Comfort working fast-paced, cross-functionally with chemists and biologists as a helpful problem-solver
Nice-to-haves:
- Cheminformatics background (a strong plus)
- Git/version control, R Shiny app development
- AWS or other cloud experience
- Bioinformatics or AI/ML exposure
- Prior biotech/industry experience
