Client is seeking a highly qualified Portfolio and Alliance Management Leader to enable effective alignment and execution across company’ s diverse R&D portfolio. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for driving, tracking and communicating priorities and progress of projects, enabling the achievement of overall portfolio goals. The Portfolio and Alliance Management Leader will also enable successful engagement of strategic partners, as a part of the Alliance Management Team, to assure alignment between the developing company portfolio and partner expectations and deliverables.

In this role, the Portfolio and Alliance Management Leader will be required to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, both internal and partners, at both a leadership and program team level, to develop and implement portfolio processes, establish consistency in governance processes, and track key metrics across Project Teams (internal and external). This position requires a high degree of leadership, teamwork and a broad knowledge of all aspects of research and development, including: clinical, CMC, regulatory, non-clinical development and the IND enabling process. This position reports to the Head of Project Leadership.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Create framework and structure to track project milestones, resources, portfolio reporting, and analytics.
  • Responsible for tracking project status and aligning organizational goals with available project resources.
  • Chair Research and Development Committee (RDC)
  • Assure projects within the portfolio are aligned with the Research and Development Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team (RDLT/ELT) expectations of milestone deliverables.
  • Develop the BOD agendas with ELT and aligns Project presentations with desired messaging
  • Work with Project Leads to assure unambiguous definitive presentations that define project strategies and plans
  • Create Project “ Dashboards” as a tool to provide a snapshot of Project status for RDLT/ELT and BOD.
  • Responsible for management of the alliance partnerships incorporating Project Leadership
  • Schedule Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meetings and strategic updates.
  • Track Actions and Deliverables resulting from the JSC and assure Project Team accountability for fulfilling requested action.
  • Track Project advancement, ensuring that the team and Project Leadership deliver and effectively execute on an integrated development strategy and plan, ensuring alignment across functions both within and with our collaboration partners.
  • Track Project Team interactions with business partners
  • Brings proactive approach to issue Identification and Resolution
  • Align and lead efforts that engage the external community and developing a network of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and accelerators who are operating in the healthcare space.
  • Specifically target companies who are developing products and services that are aligned with the innovation priorities set by the ELT for partnering and or co-development opportunities.

Qualifications/ Experience:
  • 15+ years in portfolio and project leadership roles and 10+ years supervisory experience required
  • Bachelor’ s degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in Project Management and Project Leadership and demonstrated experience in advancing therapeutics through development is required.
  • Experience in leading projects through IND filing and early development is required. Experience in NDA filings is preferred.
  • Experience in oncology and/or neuroscience therapy areas preferred.
  • Knowledge of marketing and product commercialization is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, within and beyond their team, including with management and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on the goal and a strong ability to analyze complex issues and drive to timely, thoughtful and realistic solutions and recommendations.
  • Capable of leading multiple portfolio advancement frontiers (internal & external) simultaneously.
  • Experience in partnering at all levels of an organization, both internally and with external alliance partners.
  • Able to lead by influence in complex matrixed organizational structure
  • Experience with establishing strong relationships with business partners to promote company as a “ Partner of Choice”.
  • Adept at maintaining transparency in communication and creating accountability through tracking Actions and Agreements within an Alliance Partnership.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, ands ability to teach and mentor others.
  • Position may have one or more direct reports.
