Senior/Principal Scientist, Computational Chemistry

Job Description

Our client is looking for a results oriented, strategic thinker to apply computational chemistry, structural bioinformatics, cheminformatics, and medicinal chemistry design principles to support its drug discovery programs and target identification/validation efforts.

Responsibilities include:
  • Structure and ligand based compound design, virtual screening, and library design
  • Structural bioinformatics to evaluate target class similarity and support target and lead hopping based design of compounds
  • Chemical tractability assessment techniques
  • Prediction of compound physicochemical and ADME properties to aid in compound design and selection
  • Cheminformatics techniques for HTS analysis, library design, SAR visualization, and target selection
  • Development and application of novel computational capabilities, e.g., FEP, protein simulations, and analysis

  • A passion for discovering new medicines to treat serious disease
  • A PhD and 5+ years of computational chemistry experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting is required
  • Proficiency in all aspects of modern computational chemistry
  • Demonstrated impact in applying computational chemistry to drive the design and progression of compounds in a drug discovery team setting as evidenced by publications and patent applications
  • Experience in working as a member of drug discovery teams in early through to late stage discovery
  • Deep understanding of medicinal chemistry, DMPK principles, multi-parameter compound design and optimization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
