Job Description

The National Account Director’ s primary responsibility is to direct National Account Management to effectively drive product growth and business partnerships through profitable/optimal formulary access for new launch product(s). National Accounts may include Pharmacy Benefit Managers, National Payer customers, Select Regional Payer customers, Medicaid channel, and other organizations that may be important to the success of our products.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develops and maintains relationships within all segments of the account (i.e. C-suite level, pharmacy, case management, medical, and other departments) to ensure optimal access and reimbursement for the company’ s product portfolio.
  • Acts as the lead for the National Payer and/or PBM, influencing selling by utilizing clinical knowledge, health economic/outcomes research, marketing resources, and leveraging and negotiating the value proposition, which may include innovative contract strategy and/or rebating.
  • Develops and adheres to the company’ s strategic plan for the ROI, in alignment with the brand strategy.
  • Develops, implements, and leads pull-through initiatives to maximize the growth of launch product and future product portfolio. In collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Medical, Contracting and other internal departments, makes strategic decisions regarding pull-through of downstream health plans for maximization of contract and product growth.
  • Utilizes customer and internal data to create and present tailored analysis.
  • Responsible for negotiation of National Contracting start to finish.
  • Acts as subject matter expert regarding the Health Care market landscape, customers, reimbursement and trends. Effectively communicate this knowledge to Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs and other core cross functional teams.

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’ s degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical / life sciences industries
  • Minimum of 5 years of National Account Management experience, or 3 years of leadership experience required
  • Strong business acumen skills including proven analytical, negotiation and reimbursement acumen
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment utilizing decision making skills to interpret the business quickly to improve business performance.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to lead and manage change within the organization
  • Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Up to 40% travel, including overnight travel possible.
