Based in Columbus, OH, the Manager/Sr. Manager, Global Medical Communications for gene therapy will serve as a product, disease state, and gene therapy expert within Medical Affairs. The Manager/Senior Manager, Medical Communications, will provide medical and scientific expertise to assist in the development of scientific materials to support marketed and pipeline products within our client' s gene therapy portfolio. S/he will manage and track scientific communications plans, and be responsible for oversight and management of publication vendors. Additionally, they will assist in reviewing scientific materials for medical and scientific content accuracy and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Execute the global publication and scientific communications plans by writing and or managing external agencies in the creation of manuscripts, abstracts, and assistance with scientific presentations.
  • Collaborate with authors, internal stakeholders, and medical communications agencies in facilitating the supplemental development of high quality abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of target journals and of their submission requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and medical review of educational materials for use by internal, external, and field medical affairs personnel.
  • In collaboration with the congress strategy team, develop scientific materials for medical affairs congress medical affairs booth to support client’ s gene therapy products and disease state education.
  • Act in line with legal, regulatory and company standards and codes of practice (such as our client' s Code of Conduct, Good Publications Practice, ICMJE recommendations and any other directives and guidelines).

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Advanced Scientific Degree (Ph.D., Pharm. D) required. Relevant professional certification/credential (e.g., CMPP, AMWA) is a plus.
  • 2+ years of medical communications experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical company or related experience (e.g., medical communication agency). Prior AAV gene therapy experience in either academia or the pharmaceutical industry (publications, research, etc.) required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications (verbal and written) skills are
    essential with flawless attention to detail and ability to complete writing assignments in a timely manner with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to work on global teams and knowledge of US and international regulations, requirements, and guidance’ s associated with external medical communications is
  • Experience in working with fast paced, collaborative, cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of the commercial drug development process.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data to different audiences.
  • Experience in rare disease/neurology/gene therapy
  • Management of consultants and/or vendors is strongly preferred.
  • Development of global medical plans and global medical communication and publication strategy is a plus.
  • Experience with publication databases is a plus.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
