Job Description

The Director of Finance for Commercial Operations will lead our client’ s efforts in maintaining and developing processes and controls for revenue accounting and reporting as well as the tracking and management of chargebacks. This individual will work with many different stakeholders to ensure compliance with revenue recognition rules, help develop and update assumptions for gross-to net-accruals, including working with the Commercial team to ensure appropriateness of pricing and sales reporting. The role will also work with the Commercialization Team to manage forecasting and budgeting.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Account for product revenue and all gross-to-net accruals, including returns, reserves and other adjustments to revenue
  • Review and analyze journal entries posted for product revenue and gross to-to-net accruals
  • Track and manage chargebacks
  • Develop and maintain processes and policies, including drafting of SOPs and identification of internal controls in connection with product revenue and chargebacks
  • Work with Commercial and other groups to develop and update assumptions for gross-to-net accounting
  • Review, analysis and pressure testing of gross-to-net accounting estimates/accruals, including working closely with the Finance FP&A/government pricing group
  • Responsible for Revenue Recognition accounting in accordance with ASC 606
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for US legal entity and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Facilities, analyzes and oversees the monthly closing of client company financials, maintaining and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and documentation requirements; identifies and calculates month-end accruals
  • Works closely with corporate financial reporting group to optimize the close process while ensuring timely and accurate month-end close processes
  • Own budget and forecasting responsibilities for APD
  • Review and preparation of monthly account reconciliations, including tax provision and compliance reconciliations, including R&D tax credits
  • Review of staff’ s journal entries and ensure proper supporting documentation
  • Address quarterly audit requests
  • Oversee cash position and related reporting
  • Assist in executing an asset-backed loan arrangement
  • Develop relationships with business unit personnel to provide technical accounting advice and guidance under US GAAP
  • Manage, train and motivate staff of direct reports to further develop their respective careers
  • Perform other assignments, ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required.

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum of 10 years of product revenue-based accounting experience
  • Must also have at least 8 years of combined public and private accounting experience
  • Pharmaceutical industry and product launch experience
  • Experience in publicly traded pharmaceutical company with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) experience
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including as it relates to Revenue Recognition (ASC 606) and Gross-To-Net accounting
  • Supervisory experience with strong analytical and oral/written communication skills
  • Advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and similar programs
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting
  • Oracle, QAD, Hyperion and Concur experience a plus
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
  • Self-motivated while being able to work with minimal supervision is required
  • Minimal travel required
