Position Objective:
The Alliance Management function reports to the President and CBO and is based in Princeton, NJ. The Director is a leader in the company' s alliance management team responsible for managing processes and communications to drive efficiency and effectiveness with partners. S/he needs a deep understanding of the partners’ global development strategy and its operationalization into China and other Asian markets. S/he must work effectively with alliance partners and with internal stakeholders, building strong multi-functional relationships to achieve alliance goals.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day partner interactions and liaise with internal function teams in China
  • Be facile with all areas of drug development including clinical operations, regulatory strategy and filings, biomarker and companion diagnostics strategies, investigational product, and supply etc.   and facilitate understanding for stakeholders where there are key differences between US and CN development and regulatory elements
  • Support and in some cases lead efforts to increase alignment, mutual understanding, and trust between collaboration participants, bringing nuanced awareness of interpersonal communications toward the goals of the alliance
  • Communicate proactively and bidirectionally – represent the partner’ s voice with internal teams and represent the internal team’ s voice with partners
  • Manage and monitor timely and effective decision-making with successful execution of program objectives in active trials
  • Monitor and manage program processes, including proactively identifying upcoming changes, risks and gaps in project stages or collaboration participants, managing smooth transitions, and serving as the partnership’ s voice and memory, as well as supporting or facilitating complex discussions with the partner to map a way forward and implement mitigation plans when unanticipated situations or corporate decisions in either party trigger the need for change
  • Track progress of activities and deliverables, develop and maintain key program tracking tools (daily, weekly, monthly) for communication with the Leadership Team. Responsible for executive level communication and deliverables
  • Work with a strong understanding of project governance and responsibilities and ensure that contract terms are executed appropriately by the company and the partner
  • Participate alongside operating team members as new strategies are formulated internally and with partners

Requirements / Qualifications:
The qualified candidate has significant alliance management experience in a biotech/ pharmaceutical environment. S/he has:
  • 5-7 years’ experience in alliance management with responsibilities for clinical stage collaborations with partners; Ideally both large and small company experience; prior experience in program management may be considered
  • Able to manage a portfolio of alliances, working closely with cross-functional partners and internal colleagues to manage responsibilities, mitigate risks, and ensure alliance objectives are achieved for assets in clinical development and commercial stages
  • Track record of having managed successful alliances, as well as an ability to perform both at a strategic leadership level as well as in a hands-on capacity
  • Working knowledge of the essential activities for all key functional areas in drug development is required; Knowledge of China regulatory environment is highly preferred
  • Past role in Regulatory Operations, Regulatory Strategy, Clinical/Medical Sciences, Clinical Operations, and/or Project Management is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Mandarin) communication capabilities are required; Require excellent writing skills to enable effective communications
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly organized, detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines and work efficiently; willing to roll up sleeves and be hands-on; be able to perform under pressure and be a vocal, proactive team player
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented individual with ability to work in start-up environment
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to create clear execution pathways amid ambiguity
