This individual will function as the Head of Global Medical Information Services (Global MIS). He or she will lead the development, maintenance, and growth of a high quality Global Medical Information Services department. His or her work will follow compliance and prevailing industry guidelines to ensure proper dissemination of medical information for company pipeline and approved products, globally. The Director/Sr. Director of Global Medical Information Services will report to the Vice President of Medical Affairs and will be a key contributor to the overall Medical Affairs strategy in collaboration with Medical Affair’ s senior leadership.

Primary responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the management of Global MIS internal staff and for the medical information call centers globally.
  • Develop a global strategic medical information plan
  • Create and maintain a product knowledge database including, but not limited to, written Standard Response Letters (SRLs) and verbal frequently asked questions (FAQs) that are scientifically balanced, reviewed and approved for distribution by an internal Medical Review Committee (MRC) in response to un-solicited requests for information
  • Develops and reviews global medical information content, ensuring accuracy and scientific balance of all scientific/clinical information
  • Lead the team and set expectations for all team members who provide medical review of content for all materials at the internal Medical Review Committee (MRC) and Promotional Review Committee (PRC) in collaboration with the Medical Director
  • Develop and maintain department-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure systems and processes for adverse event reporting, and other reports of human safety information, are accurate and reported to the Pharmacovigilance team.
  • Develop and manage Global MIS budget
  • Vendor and contractor management including performance, quality, and budget oversight
  • Develop and maintain corporate scientific library services; oversee training processes, copyright licensing, relevant scientific resources, and budget
  • Develop and maintain a Knowledge Management service by overseeing company intranet page on Science and Research, literature surveillance, and updating literature collections
  • Maintain subject matter expert knowledge of all products to sufficiently oversee compliant handling and/or oversight of consumer and healthcare professional inquiries globally

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of global Medical Information experience for Director and 8+ years’ experience for Senior Director
  • 10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Advanced scientific degree: PharmD, MD, PhD
  • Successful track record in multiple disciplines in industry such as medical information, medical affairs, pharmacovigilance, clinical development, and medical/scientific literature
  • Understanding of multiple scientific literature search engines and capabilities
  • Understanding of the medical/promotional review process
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals and administrative staff working in a cross-functional environment
  • Experience defining best practices around MIS
  • Understanding of US and global regulations pertaining to medical information and scientific communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively manage time while balancing numerous high priority projects with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary team
  • Attention to detail
