Job Description

Our client is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company developing novel, personalized T cell-enabled vaccines and autologous cell therapies to treat solid tumors. They are seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative translational medicine leader with deep scientific expertise, leadership experience and the passion for bringing the right therapies to patients to join their fun, dynamic, and dedicated team. As a member of the translational medicine team, you will be a vital part of shaping the translational strategy and vision. The candidate is expected to have a cutting-edge understanding of latest technologies and trends in Oncology, as well as Immuno-Oncology, and therapeutic vaccine and adoptive cell therapy development.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Working in close alliance with the Research, Pharmaceutical Sciences & Manufacturing, and Clinical departments, the ideal candidate will develop and coordinate biomarker, patient selection and companion diagnostic strategies across our client' s growing oncology portfolio
  • Oversee all aspects of adaptation of these assays into clinically acceptable formats with appropriate quality control standards in place, including oversight of assay qualification and validation
  • Lead the monitoring of patient-specific immune responses to vaccine antigens as well as the engraftment and durability of non-engineered cell therapy products
  • Responsible for oversight of logistics, sample receipt and management, acquisition, analysis and interpretation of data, documentation, and communication of results internally and externally
  • Provide deep domain area expertise to discovery and development project teams and further enhance client' s scientific reputation through high impact publications and presentations
  • Function as a scientific and business thought-leader inside and outside of the company and a key link to external community
  • Contribute to regulatory interactions and FDA submissions
  • Responsible for managing several direct and dotted line reports in a matrixed environment
  • Strategic oversight of translational medicine, including management of budgets, team growth, forecasting and scenario planning

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • MD or PhD in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 8-10 years of leadership experience with clinical immunoassays and biomarker research in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in Oncology including immunology, biomarker and companion diagnostic development
  • Proven leadership in a similar role/function is compulsory. Will supervise a team of employees. Experience with clinical CRO management, adoptive T cell therapy and vaccine development is preferred. Familiarity with stage-appropriate regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with T cell ELISPOT, high throughput screening, TCR sequencing, multi-color flow cytometry, and other immunoassays is a requirement. Experience with mechanism of action-driven cell-based assays is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of translational T cell immunology with a broad understanding of the current clinical development landscape in immuno-oncology
  • Broad understanding of clinical research
  • Leadership and management experience coupled with strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
