Job Description

The Program Management team in the Clinical Development Office at our client is responsible for management of the preclinical and clinical-stage programs from Lead Nomination to licensure. Our client is seeking a motivated and energetic Program Manager to enable execution of the objectives and strategy of assigned clinical programs. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the Program Leader to define and drive the remit for the cross-functional Program Team. Each program manager may be assigned 1-3 programs depending on the phase of development. The initial focus of this role will be on Infectious Disease/Vaccine programs and, based on Portfolio needs and personal development goals, may also extend to support multiple therapeutic areas over time (autoimmune, rare diseases and/or oncology).

The successful Program Manager will have program management experience across multiple phases of clinical development including late stages (Phase 3, submission, post-authorization, and lifecycle management), preferably in infectious disease/vaccine development. Program Managers will help drive their program teams forward in the development of novel mRNA medicines for a wide range of diseases and conditions to make mRNA a reality for patients.

Here’ s What You’ ll Do:
  • Understand the big picture of the Program strategy, operations and cross-functional interdependencies in order to lead integration and execution across a large complex Program and assure alignment with Program leadership, stakeholders, and enterprise priorities.
  • Implement and/or optimize core Program Management tools/processes for reporting, tracking, data collection, synthesis, budgets, integration, scenario-planning, risk and stakeholder management.
  • Be a thought partner to the Program Lead to problem-solve, implement strategies that drive maximum potential realization, and shape the direction of the program.
  • Be the point person for operationalizing the overall program strategy and lifecycle plan; act as the hub for cross-functional integration and execution of the integrated plan in alignment with the Program Lead.
  • Drive effective decision-making at the Program and Executive Committee Level through:
  • Effective meeting management: set agendas, ensure the right participants are invited, take notes and distribute meeting minutes, record key decisions in decision log, inform impacted stakeholders not in attendance, follow up on action items)
  • Proactively identifying and escalating gaps and challenges
  • Managing the team through scenario planning to solve problems
  • Supporting content creation as the framework for coordinating team efforts, summarizing complex topics into critical points, and governance
  • Proactive communication that is outcome and solution-driven
  • Have visibility, bandwidth, and influence to drive completion of all deliverables and key responsibilities, building and leveraging relationships with key stakeholders (team members and leadership) and organizational dynamics to promote program goals.
  • Work with the Finance group to implement and track program budget and find/suggest trade-offs as needed.
  • Contributing to Program Management initiatives to support development and scaling of capabilities, tools and processes.

Here’ s What You’ ll Bring to the Table:
  • Associate Director: Graduate degree with 6-8+ years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting or Bachelor’ s degree with 10+ years of experience
  • Director: Graduate degree with 10+ years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting or Bachelor’ s degree with 15+ years of experience
  • Generally, subject matter expertise in late-stage drug development across Phase 1-3, submission, post marketing (i.e., Phase 4) and lifecycle development (end to end R&D).
  • Core Program Management strengths with tools and best practices for reporting, tracking, data collection, synthesis, budgets, integration, scenario-planning, risk and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated high-level cross-functional leadership and integration across large complex Programs and assuring alignment with Program leadership, stakeholders, and enterprise priorities.
  • Strong track-record in implementing strategies that drive maximum potential realization
  • Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally.
  • Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate others and manage conflict.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizational aptitude
  • Preferred: Project/program management training or certification
  • Preferred: Experience with infectious disease/vaccine development.
